About

Studying and building intelligent systems, from biology to silicon.

I’ve been asking two questions for most of my career and it took me a while to realize they were different. The first: “what can I learn from this data?” That one keeps me grounded. The second: “what is life doing that this data can’t teach me?” That one keeps me up at night.

I lead platform architecture at Lantern Pharma, where my team built withZeta.ai to accelerate drug discovery for rare and resistant cancers. I run Attune Intelligence, bootstrapped and self-funded, because that second question can’t survive a grant cycle. All of my published work is compiled under research. The thinking behind it is in my writing.

I’m also a certified RYT-200 yoga and breathwork instructor, which started as a counterweight to screen time and turned into its own line of inquiry about embodied intelligence.

"Seeking for truth, I considered with myself that if there were no teachers of medicine in this world, how would I set to learn the art? No otherwise than in the great open book of nature, written with the finger of God."

— Paracelsus

Lantern Pharma
Lead Platform Architect & Staff Engineer
Dallas, TX. Joined as Senior Data Engineer and built the data infrastructure for what became ZETA. Now Lead Platform Architect & Staff Engineer, owning the full agentic intelligence layer on top of the established data foundations. ZETA is live, onboarding clinical researchers, and actively informing drug synthesis for rare cancers that traditional pharma won't fund.
Attune Intelligence
Founder
A self-funded independent research lab and sole-proprietorship for engineering consulting. The first paper, "What Lives?", with Michael Levin, Blaise Agüera y Arcas, and Karina Kofman turned 68 expert definitions of life into a continuous conceptual topology. The consulting funds the hardware. The questions drive the work.
Praxis AI
Generative AI Engineer
Remote. Built the Generative Intelligence Engine powering Pria, a generative AI teaching assistant. 2 American Business Awards in 2023: GOLD for Achievement in Online Training, BRONZE for AI in EdTech. Built and taught the Foundations of AI course, which took GOLD for K-12 Learning Management. Built DevOps pipelines for dynamically scaled AWS deployments.
Etiome (formerly Flagship Labs 84)
Research Associate, Computational Biology & AI
Cambridge, MA. The first software engineer hired into what became Etiome, building core computational biology infrastructure from scratch. Applied ML to electronic medical records and single-cell RNA-sequencing data to map how molecular heterogeneity shifts as disease progresses. The higher the resolution, the more the mechanisms of disease resisted the explanations biochemistry could offer. If the pathways I was modeling were transistors, there had to be a programming language flipping them.
DNAnexus
Product Management Intern
Remote. Wired together bulk RNAseq tools (STAR, Kallisto, DESeq2) into a single cloud-deployable pipeline. Worked across sales and engineering on productizing genomics workflows.
Clemson University
M.S. Biomedical Data Science & Informatics
Clemson, SC. Cancer genomics research at scale: deep learning for precision medicine, gene expression matrices, and bioinformatics pipelines on Kubernetes. Published in Cell Patterns, BMC Bioinformatics, G3, and BMC Cancer. TSPG (co-first author, Cell Patterns 2020) was a GAN-based method that learned the transcriptomic perturbations needed to shift a patient's gene expression from a tumor state back toward healthy tissue, applied at single-patient resolution to kidney cancer. Presented at the NIH Cancer Moonshot Symposium (Bethesda, 2019) and Internet2's Technology Exchange Conference.
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Undergraduate Research
Singapore. Polymeric drug delivery systems: how to engineer a molecule's path through a biological membrane. The first real encounter with biology as an engineering problem, and the first hint that biology was doing something far more interesting than what my instruments could measure.
Clemson University
B.S. Bioengineering, Concentration in Biomaterials, Minor in Genetics
Clemson, SC. Undergraduate research in cancer bioinformatics. Where the computational biology path started.
RYT-200 Yoga & Breathwork
Certified Instructor
The body is a distributed intelligence system. It processes, integrates, and responds in ways that don't route through conscious awareness. Working with breath and somatic practice is one way to study that directly. (It also helps with the 10-hour desk days.)
